<< About My Beadwork >> Plains

I’ve been using a needle to create beauty since childhood.
If you can create beauty with a needle, I’ve probably done it. Since I am hard to fit, I do all kinds of custom work.
I do museum-quality beadwork – original designs, reproductions, and period-accurate restorations. I teach beadwork, and will soon have a DVD out that can help you learn to do beadwork, and understand what is involved
in creating beautiful beadwork that lasts.
Watch this site for it!

My custom-made mocassins are made to fit your feet, even if they are different sizes or shapes or wear orthopedic devices. My mocassins are gloves for your feet.
They are heavenly comfortable!

Mocassins are available plain, fully-beaded, or partly beaded. I work primarily in moose leather, because it does not stretch much when wet; but I also work in buffalo leather on occasion. I make a variety of styles; although my favorite is a pre-1850’s, one-piece Plains-style mocassin, with or without high tops.

I routinely do beadwork in the following styles: Native American Beaded Bra, Eastern Woodland Style
Lane, Gourd or Peyote, Return, Appliqué or Spot Stitch,
but I can & will do other styles on request and for a fee.
I also do loomed beadwork and freehand woven beadwork,
which is sometimes called bead weaving.

I do beadwork in both Plains (so-called geometric) style and in Eastern Woodland (floral) style. I am Dakota and Lakota, so bead primarily in the styles of my people, but I can also bead in the styles of other Nations. Feel free to ask!

Please contact me concerning pricing and shipping, or to order one in your size or design preference.

I routinely make beaded earrings, bracelets, pins, watchbands, barrettes, and combs; as well as beadwork for Powwow regalia such as Mens’ Grass Dance
and Womens’ Fancy Shawl.
